Viña Casa Silva is a 100% family vineyard, owned by the Silva family, which since 1997 has been dedicated to the production of fine bottled wines. In 1978, when Mr. Mario Silva Cifuentes, married to María Teresa Silva Bouchon (fourth generation), a dentist by profession, but a lover of the countryside, decided to begin investing and recovering the old vineyards and the historic Bouchon family winery, becoming an important supplier of bulk wines for other bottling and exporting companies in Chile.

At the end of 1996, when Mario Pablo, eldest son of the Silva Family, a Commercial Engineer, at that time with 5 years of experience working in a company outside the family, suggested to his father the idea of starting to bottle wines under his own brand, proposing the Casa Silva brand. He accepts, on the condition that Mario Pablo joins the family business.
1997
This is how in April 1997, the history of Viña Casa Silva as such begins, Mario Pablo sets out to transform the family business into a company that produces fine bottled wines, with its own identity, that respects nature and its place of origin, maintaining all the family tradition of generations, but looking to the future with a modern vision.
A few months later, his brothers joined, Gonzalo in the Agricultural area and Francisco in Public Relations. Over time, both, plus Raimundo, the youngest, become part of the Board of Directors, which is also made up of Mario Silva Cifuentes, President, María Teresa Silva Bouchon and Mario Pablo Silva, as General Director.
Viña Casa Silva begins a modernization process that includes the old winery, which dates back to the 19th century, the planting of new vineyards in strategic locations and the opening of markets, both in Chile and abroad.
Present
Currently, the Silva Family, like their ancestors, are recognized as pioneers of the Colchagua Valley. Its vineyards and the quality of its wines transformed it into the most awarded Chilean vineyard of the 21st century. They are present in more than 70 countries around the world and have plantations in different corners of the Colchagua Valley, close to the Andes mountain range, such as Los Lingues and Angostura, and the Pacific Ocean, such as Lolol and Paredones, in addition to a pioneering project in Futrono -Lago Ranco, in the Austral region of Chile.

However, the family history around the vine and wine begins in 1887, with the arrival in Chile, at the age of 22, of Don Emilio Bouchon Poitvin, originally from an area near Saint Emilion., in the Bordeaux region, France, who emigrated to work as an Oenologist-Viticulturist at an important Santiago vineyard. It was at the beginning of the 20th century that, together with his children, he decided to start his own production of grapes and wines, planting the vineyards and the wine cellar that today houses Viña Casa Silva, in the Angostura Estate, near San Fernando. in the Colchagua Valley. Their original family home, where 6 generations have lived, is currently the Casa Silva Boutique Hotel. Don Emilio Bouchon and his wife, also French, Doña Germana Fauré had 4 children: María Luisa, Josefina, Abel and Antonio. His sons Abel and Antonio, both Agronomists – Viticulturalists, formed the important company, Bouchon Hermanos, and continued with the development of plantations and expansion of the wineries, along with other businesses related to the field, for many years. It was in the mid-20th century that the brothers decided to separate the company and Don Abel Bouchon, married to Teresa González Ferran, continued developing the wine business in the family’s old winery and original vineyards. They have 4 children, María Teresa, Berta, Olga and Abel. It is María Teresa, the eldest of her children, who together with her husband Jorge Silva continue to develop the sale of wines in very difficult times in the industry, as an immense effort and a great example for future generations, María Teresa Bouchon dedicated her time, directly, selling wines in the surroundings of San Fernando and the Colchagua Valley, while her husband Jorge took care of production. They had 3 children, the eldest María Teresa, followed by María Patricia and Jorge Abel.
